October 15, Dr. Jun Gu, a tenured senior research fellow at Wadsworth Medical Research Center of New York State’s Department of Health visited Jiangsu University, gave a lecture to the students and faculties of the School of Pharmacy tilted “Role of drug metabolic enzymes in curing human diseases”, and answered questions raised by students concerning overseas studies in the United States.

The major research orientations of Jun Gu include drug toxicology, drug metabolizing enzyme, drug metabolic mechanism and drug metabolic dynamics, metabolic disease mechanism and treatment, individualized diagnosis and drug treatment, nano-drug and toxicology, etc. He is currently serving as a tenured research fellow at Wadsworth Medical Research Center of New York State’s Department of Health, head of his research project, part-time professor of New York State University, and part-time professor of the School of Pharmacy of Second Military Medical University. He has been leading researcher of a project sponsored by National Institutes of Health of the US and a major international cooperation project sponsored by Shanghai Municipal Committee of Science and Technology. By now he has published nearly 50 research papers on such famous periodicals indexed by SCI as Cell Research, J BiolChem, Kidney Int., and MolPharmacol.
