October 11, a ceremony was held in the meeting center of Jiangsu University appointing Gong Wei as part-time professor of Jiangsu University, who is a world-famous specialist in the field of near infrared and President of NIR Application Consulation Corporation, followed by an academic report given by the appointed professor. The ceremony welcomed Chen Long, Vice President of Jiangsu University to grant the letter of appointment to and pin the university badge for Dr. Gong Wei. More than 100 students and faculties from the School of Food and Biological Engineering attended the ceremony.

After the ceremony, Dr. Gong Wei gave an academic presentation titled “Application of near infrared spectrum analysis technology to food industry both in China and abroad”. Based on his investigation and working experiences, Dr. Gong Wei’s gave a detailed introduction to the principles of near infrared spectrum and its technological features, outlined the development of near infrared spectroscope, spectrum preprocessing method and chemometrics, and illustrated his lecture with the successful applications of near infrared spectrum to agricultural and food analysis in America, Japan, European countries, etc.
