From April 27 to 28, the delegation led by Programme Officer of Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific - Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (ESCAP-CSAM) Marco Silvestri, paid a visit to Jiangsu University (JSU). President of JSU Prof. Yan Xiaohong met with the delegation, and the leaders of International Office and College of Overseas Education attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Prof. Yan extended his welcome to Mr. Marco Silvestri for his first visit to JSU, and made a brief introduction of university’s history, current condition, international cooperation, and overseas education. Prof. Yan expressed his hope that the two parties will promote the cooperation in agriculture-related talents cultivation and international conferences, which are included in the Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties.

Mr. Marco Silvestri hoped that the two parties will make close cooperation and act on the agricultural machinery program to real effect, for ESCAP-CSAM is quite compatible with JSU in school-running philosophy, disciplinary features and development orientation.
The two parties explored the feasibility of jointly promoting the Asia-Pacific Agricultural Modernization and Food Safety Education and Training Program, jointly building the Global Agricultural Modernization and Food Safety Education and Training Center, and jointly building the Ministry of Education Foreign-related Legal Talents Base.
During their stay at JSU, the delegation visited JSU History Museum, China Agricultural Machinery Culture Exhibition Hall, Key Laboratory for Theory and Technology of Intelligent Agricultural Machinery and Equipment, National Research Center of Pumps, and laboratories of Research Center of Fluid Machinery Engineering and Technology, School of Automotive and Traffic Engineering and School of Food and Biological Engineering.
ESCAP-CSAM is the first UN agency whose headquarter is located in China. It is a subsidiary of UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, the first international organization which has signed the Belt and Road cooperation document with China, and JSU is the only university in China which has signed a cooperation agreement with the agency.
