Recently, Clarivate Analytics released the latest ESI data, which cover 8409 research institutes in the world, with 415 from inland China. Jiangsu University (JSU) has moved up 65 positions in the ESI comprehensive ranking to be ranked 458th among universities in the world. JSU is ranked 42nd in inland China and 5th in Jiangsu province.

  
The latest ESI ranking shows that JSU’s disciplines of Engineering, Agricultural Science and Chemistry are ranked among the top 1‰. JSU has made great progress in its discipline construction. Engineering is ranked among the top 0.43‰. JSU’s Agricultural Science has made an obvious rise in the ranking, moving up 0.19‰ to be ranked among the top 0.63‰ in the world. The discipline of Chemistry has moved up 0.11‰ to be ranked among the top 0.62‰ in the world.
Besides, 13 ESI top 1% disciplines from JSU, including Material Science, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Computer Science have made steady progress in the international ranking.
Essential Science Indicators ( ESI ) is a basic analytic tool to measure the scientific research performance and track the trends of scientific development. ESI includes the papers and the data cited which have been published in 12000 SCIE and SSCI journals in the past 10 years. The data are collected from tens of thousands of, even hundreds of thousands of research institutes, and are classified according to 22 disciplines. Therefore, ESI is representative and universally acknowledged in the world.
