On Mar. 26, Jiangsu University held a series of events to uphold Zhao Yafu’s spirit and highlight the global poverty alleviation. Prof. Yan Xiaohong, President of Jiangsu University (JSU) gave a lecture at the first session of “Meihua Forum on the Belt and Road” (also known as Plum Blossom Forum on the Silk Road) under the theme of “Agricultural Modernization’s Role in Contributing to World’s Poverty Alleviation”.

Prof. Zhao Yutao, Vice President of JSU, Prof. Jin Lifu, Member of the Standing Committee of the Unversity Party Committee and Director of the Publicity Department, Xu Decheng, Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Zhenjiang Municipal People’s Government, leaders from relevant administrative departments and Overseas Education College of JSU, Chinese and International students participated in the event.
In his lecture, Prof. Yan Xiaohong started with the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic to the world’s poverty alleviation, and introduced China’s decisive victory in poverty alleviation, the key role of agricultural mechanization in poverty alleviation, and the vivid practice of JSU to promote agricultural mechanization and contribute to poverty alleviation. He cited Zhao Yafu, a national model for poverty alleviation, Cha Yingdong, a national award owner for poverty alleviation, and the education aid that the teachers and students of JSU had made in poverty-stricken areas. His words tugged at the heartstring of the teachers, students and the guests. He encouraged the teachers and students to follow the “Zhao Yafu Spirit”, work hard with dedication, pioneering, and devotion, as well as devote themselves to poverty alleviation in their countries and the world.

The signing ceremony of “Jiangsu University-Huabao International Strategic Cooperation Agreement” and “Jiangsu University - Huabao Group Development Fund for International Industry-Education Cooperation Agreement” were held. Huabao Group invested 10 million yuan to establish an international industry-education integration development fund in JSU. During the event, the guests presented awards to the representatives of the winners of the “The Governance of China (Volume 3)” Book Reading Competition for Jiangsu University Overseas Students and the winners of the Daqo Group Market Research Competition.
