The meeting was chaired by Chinese Dean of the Confucius Institute Prof. Gao Jing.

At the meeting, the Foreign Dean reported on the progress of the construction of the Confucius Institute in terms of infrastructure construction, teaching and cultural activities, while the Chinese Dean reported on a detailed work plan and budget of the Confucius Institute in 2024. The two sides also discussed and passed the personnel reshuffle of the Council, and explored deeper collaboration in academic exchange, joint construction of disciplines, scientific research and other areas between two universities. The Council expressed appreciation for the fruitful results the Institute achieved in the past year and set the key tasks and development goal for the year of 2024.
Noting that China and Serbia enjoy a time-honored friendship, Prof. Vesna Lopicic said that China's economic development miracle and cultural soft power have attracted the attention of the world, and more and more Serbian young people want to learn Chinese and understand Chinese culture. The Confucius Institute at UON is establishing a good reputation and image in Niš, and will actively promote the development of international Chinese education in Serbia and exchanges and cooperation between China and Serbia.
Vice President Cai Yingfeng pointed out in her concluding remarks that in the past year, through the joint efforts of JSU and UON, the Confucius Institute at UON has achieved gratifying results in language teaching, cultural activities, and foreign exchanges. In 2024, we hope that both sides will continue to cooperate sincerely, play the role of the Confucius Institute platform, and achieve better results. JSU will continue to support and participate in the work of Confucius Institutes, promoting the Confucius Institute at UON to become a link of bilateral friendship and making positive contributions to cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Serbia.
The Confucius Institute at UON, Serbia was officially authorized in September 2023 with a focus on international cooperation in Chinese language education. While “better presenting Chinese culture to the world, better telling the stories of China”, it will play a more active role as a comprehensive exchange platform in promoting the common development of the two universities in discipline construction, personnel training, cooperation between universities and businesses and other fields.
