On April 23, Jiangsu University (JSU) held the 7th College Students Intellectual Property Knowledge Contest of Zhenjiang city and the 2023 World Intellectual Property Day theme event in honor of the 23rd World Intellectual Property Day. The event's theme was "Strengthening legal protection for intellectual property rights and supporting comprehensive innovation."

The event was organized by the Zhenjiang Intellectual Property Office and Zhenjiang Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League, and supported by the School of Intellectual Property of JSU and the JSU Committee of the Communist Youth League. More than 300 representatives participated in the event, including Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Intellectual Property Office Zhang Chuanbo, Deputy Secretary of Jiangsu University Committee Prof. Li Hongbo, Director of Zhenjiang Intellectual Property Office Zhai Chunhui, Deputy Secretary of Zhenjiang Youth League Committee Jiang Meng, representative enterprise leaders of Graduate Practice Bases, leaders of relevant functional departments of JSU,as well as teachers and students from colleges and universities in Zhenjiang.

During his speech, Zhang Chuanbo praised JSU's "industry-university-research application integration" talent cultivation model, which has promoted innovation in intellectual property talent training and contributed to the formation of practical intellectual property talent teams. He encouraged JSU to continue to improve its activities and practices, keep pace with the latest trends, and create a unique brand for Jiangsu University.

The event also marked the launch of JSU Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) intellectual property big data platform, which integrates intellectual property data resources and builds intellectual property maps using the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) TISC. This platform caters to the needs of university intellectual property teaching, scientific research, and regional innovation industries. JSU took the lead in developing a big data platform for agricultural machinery information patents, which has helped to support innovation and development in the industrial economies of Nanjing Jiangbei New District, Suzhou, Zhenjiang, Jiangyin, and other areas.
During the event, JSU released the "White Paper on Intellectual Property Rights of Jiangsu University in 2022", which revealed that JSU was the only university selected as one of the first batch of national patent navigation engineering support service institutions in 2022. That year, JSU also achieved historic highs in patent authorizations, PCT patent application authorizations, and patent conversions.
The event also featured the release of the "Salute to Her Strength - Patent Achievement Report of Female Scientists of Jiangsu University". Additionally, several related activities took place, including the unveiling ceremony of the National Wheat Improvement Center Jiangsu University Rule of Law Practice Base, the "Hengweizhi" Intellectual Property Scholarship Donation Ceremony, the Unveiling Ceremony of the Graduate Practice Base, and Zhenjiang City Intellectual Property Law Propaganda Lecturer Appointment Ceremony.

JSU competed against seven other colleges and universities, including Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Zhenjiang College, Jiangsu Vocational College of Agriculture and Forestry, Jiangsu Aviation Technical College, Jiangsu Jiaotong College, Zhenjiang Technician College, and Jinshan Vocational and Technical College in the 7th College Student Intellectual Property Knowledge Contest of Zhenjiang city. After a competitive round, JSU won the first prize.
