Delegates from JSU triumphantly returned from 27th Tri-U International Joint Seminar and Symposium

The 27th Tri-U International Joint Seminar and Symposium was held at Guangxi University from October 31st – November 5th, 2021. With 4 student representatives winning the Best Paper Presentation awards, 2 students winning the Best Poster Presentation awards, and 4 students winning The Most Excellent Academic Performance awards, Jiangsu University (JSU) ranked first among the 12 participating universities and colleges.


The theme for this year’s seminar and symposium was “Population, Food, Energy, Environment, A smart city: Is it just a dream?”. The whole event attracted professors, lecturers, and students from 12 universities in 6 countries including China, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, and Russia.

The opening ceremony was held on November 1st with the opening remarks from Vice President of Guangxi University (China) Prof. Fan Zuojun, President of JSU (China) Prof. Yan Xiaohong, President of Mie University (Japan) Prof. Ito Masaaki, President of Chiang Mai University (Thailand) Prof. Niwes Nantachit, and President of Bogor Agricultural University (Indonesia) Prof. Arif Satria. In the plenary session, Prof. Xu Wanzhen, the Dean of the Institute of Environmental Health and Ecological Safety of JSU, was invited to give a plenary report entitled "China's Energy Innovation and Carbon Neutrality Target Exploration" at the opening ceremony.

During the seminar, teacher and student representatives from JSU participated in the academic reports, poster presentations, workshops and other academic seminars and cultural exchange activities. Proficiently, all the participants fully demonstrated scientific research results, promoted exchanges, and deepened mutual learning and understanding.

The seminar and symposium set up a total of 23 awards for the most excellent academic performance, best paper presentation, best poster presentation and best workshop awards. Zheng Hanyu and Yolandani from the School of Food and Biological Engineering of JSU, Zhao Bencheng from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and Yang Susu from the First Clinical Medical School won both The Most Excellent Academic Performance awards and the Best Paper Presentation awards. In addition, Zheng Hanyu and Yolandani from the School of Food and Biological Engineering also acquired the Best Poster Presentation awards.

The Tri-U International Joint Seminar and Symposium has become a branded project of student exchange between Jiangsu University (China), Mie University (Japan), Chiang Mai University (Thailand) and Guangxi University (China). It has been held for 27 years in a row and has fully demonstrated the international competence of students in the international arena.
