The 18th Tri-University International Joint Seminar and Symposium was held In Jiangsu Universit

On the morning of 27^thOctober, 2011, the opening ceremony of the "18th Tri-University International Joint Seminar and Symposium" was held at conference center of Jiangsu University where the color flags were fluttering and flowers were gorgeous spectacle. Scholars and students added up 107, from 7 universities in five countries (China、Japan、Thailand、Indonesia、Canada) attended the magnificent conference. Prof. Yuan Shouqi, president of Jiangsu University, and Prof. Xu Huaxi, vice-president of Jiangsu University attended the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, Prof. Yuan Shouqi, Chairman of the 18th Tri-U, declared the opening of the "18th Tri-University International Joint Seminar and Symposium" and made an opening speech. To begin with, Prof Yuan extended his warmest welcome to all the guests and participants from both and abroad. Then, Prof. Yuan showed the achievements of research and teaching as a university with international vision and affirmed the significance and the contribution of the Tri-University International Joint Seminar and Symposium. Finally, Prof. Yuan wish 18^thTri-U Seminar and Symposium a big success. The forum guests, including Prof. Atsumasa Uchida, President of Mie University, Dr. Nad Worayos, Vice President of Chiang Mai University, Prof. Suhardiyanto, Rector of Bogor Agricultural University, Prof.Veerayutkamjorn, Dean, Faculty of Industrial Technology, Chiangrai Rajabhat University, Prof. LI Jibin, Vice president of Guangxi University, made congratulatory speeches. Then, all of scholars, students, members of the 18^thTri-U and volunteers (added up about 140) took the photo on the platform.

The conference concerns for the role of Asia in the world, and carries out a series of extensive and in-depth seminars, around "Population, Food, Energy, Environment" topics. The host is allowed to add a topic every year. This year, the added topic is Ecological Development and Low Carbon”. During the conference, apart for academic communication, a series of activities, such as traveling of enjoying the Chinese culture, the low carbon competition, party etc, will be carried out. The "18th Tri-University International Joint Seminar and Symposium" provides a good opportunity for scholars and students from Asia to consolidate academic collaboration and communication, and enhance the scientific research level.

The "18th Tri-University International Joint Seminar and Symposium" was co-initiate d by Mie-U of Japan, Chiang Mai-U of Thailand and Jiangsu-U of China in 1994. The first Tri-U International Joint Seminar and Symposium was held in Mie-U. It is held once a year, and each of three countries holds in turn this magnificent conference. Today, the conference influence is extended to more countries, so more and more non-memberships pay attention to the conference and attend it.

The "18th Tri-University International Joint Seminar and Symposium" will last five days, and draw to an end on 31^stOctober.
