Welcome ceremony for the 2012 overseas freshers of JU held

At 9 a.m., November 17, 2012, the welcome ceremony for the 2012 overseas freshers of Jiangsu University was held in the Graduate Student Lecture Hall. President Yuan Shouqi, assistant president and director of Student Affairs Department Li Hongbo, and leaders of International Office, Graduate School, Teaching Affairs Department, and Overseas Education College were all invited to attend the ceremony. On behalf of Jiangsu University, president Yuan Shouqi expressed his war welcome ad sincere greetings to more than 200 overseas freshmen. In his speech, he spoke highly of the Overseas Education College, which made an excellent performance in the 11th Jiangsu University Track & Field Sports Meeting, and gave congratulations to those students who made outstanding achievements in the Second Chinese and Foreign Graduate Student Academic Forum . He also made an introduction of Jiangsu University and the measures that have been taken to promote the process of internationalization. Lastly , he expressed his hope that all the students, no matter which country they come from , would follow the motto of Jiangsu university " Be erudite, practical and virtuous", study hard, make friends, enjoy the wonderful time at the university, and constantly improve their comprehensive quality so that they will become Jiangsu University’s outstanding alumni. Professor Ou Zhongping, as a representative of Jiangsu University teaching staff, Samuel from Ghana , as a representative of overseas doctoral students, and Afsar from Pakistan and Edwin from Uganda, as representatives of undergraduate students, made speeches .At the ceremony, 9 Chinese Government Scholarship winners, 6 Jasmine Scholarship winners , 6 Confucius Institute scholarship winners, 35 Jiangsu University President Scholarship for Foreign Students, 40 winners of Scholarship for Excellent Academic Performance and 8 winners of Prize for Special Contribution to Social Activities were awarded certificates.
