2024-01-05 09:02

The 13th Creative Engineering Design Competition (CEDC 2023) and the 11th International Conference on Innovative Application Research Education (ICIARE 2023) were held at Jiangsu University (JSU) from Dec. 22 to 26. The events were hosted by the Asian Association for Innovative Research and Education (iRE-Asia) and jointly organized by International Office, Basic Engineering Training Centre, and the School of Computer Science and Communication Engineering of JSU. A total of 19 teachers and 87 students from 10 universities in China, Japan and South Korea participated in the competition. In addition, 5 Japanese teachers and more than 20 Japanese students participated in the competition online.

On behalf of JSU, Vice President Prof. Ren Xudong addressed the opening ceremony, extending a warm welcome to the teachers and students from home and abroad, and briefly introduced the development of JSU in recent years and the achievements of internationalized education. Over the past 11 years, the China-Japan-Korea Creative Engineering Series of Educational Program, jointly initiated by JSU and other Japanese and Korean universities has developed into a unique brand project of international engineering education, which effectively strengthens the innovative practical teaching and mutual cooperation among teachers and students from universities of China, Japan and Korea. President of Yamaguchi University, Japan Prof. Yukio Tanizawa, President of Inje University, South Korea Prof. Minhyon Jeon, and President of Chungbuk National University, South Korea Prof. ChangSeop Koh also made speeches via video.

There were 33 entries in this competition. After the heated contest in PPT report, live demonstration and question-and-answer session, 5 entries of JSU were well received by the judges. The work "A Vacuum Cryogenic Drying System Based on Solar Frequency Division Type Electro-thermal Co-generation Technology" from the School of Mechanics and the work" Design of An Autonomous Navigation System for High-Precision Agricultural Vehicles" from the School of Electrical Engineering won the gold award, while the other three groups of works won the silver award.
China-Japan-Korea CEDC was co-sponsored by JSU, Yamaguchi University and National Kunsan University in 2013. In the form of competition, it is held by universities of China, Japan and South Korea on a rotational basis, which provides an exchange platform for students to learn from each other and improve their excellent self-designed works on innovative intelligent applications of hot interdisciplines such as mechanics, electronics, computers and so on, while playing a positive role in improving the quality of international training of the engineering students in relevant universities of China, Japan and South Korea.
CEDC 2024 and ICIARE 2024 will be held in December 2024 in National Kunsan University, South Korea.
