Jiangsu University (JSU) has won its 10th Cup of Excellence at the 18th “Challenge Cup” Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition of National College Students, which was held at Guizhou University from Oct. 27 to 31.

After fierce competitions, a total of 17 works from JSU won prizes, with 6 in the main competition (including 1 Special Prize, 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 2 Third Prizes), 10 in the “Jiebang Guashuai” or “Open Competition to Select the Best Candidates to Lead Research” special competition (2 Special Prizes, 1 of which with the highest marks nationwide, 4 First Prizes, 1 Second Prize,, 3 Third Prizes), and 1 “Planet” level accolade in the “Black Technology” special competition. On Oct. 28, a work winning the Special Award in the main competition from JSU was reported in the CCTV Xinwen Lianbo.

Hosted jointly by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), the Ministry of Education, Chinese Academy of Social Science (CASS), All-China Students’ Federation (ACSF) and the People’s Government of Guizhou Province, the 18th “Challenge Cup” Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition of National College Students is organized by Guizhou University.
This year’s competition adopted the “1+1+2” system, which is composed of the main competition, the “Jiebang Guashuai” special competition, and the “Black Technology” special competition. A total of 2.5 million students from over 2000 universities nationwide registered for the competition with more than 400,000 works.
It was held in a university under the joint support and instruction of China’s Ministry of Education and Guizhou Provincial Government in southwest China for the first time.
Since Dec. 2021, JSU started to collect works for the competition, and a total number of 409 entries from 3987 students were received. After expert evaluation, 33 works distinguished themselves in the university-level preliminary competition, 11 among which were shortlisted for the provincial competition and won 7 Special Awards. According to the rule, 6 pieces were selected for the online review, 4 of which advanced to the final review. In addition, 2 works in the “Jiebang Guashuai” special competition were shortlisted to the arena contest.
