On September 27, with the theme of “Believe in the Future and Create a Wonderful Future Together”, 2023 Global Confucius Institute Day, sponsored by Chinese International Education Foundation, was held in Beijing. Vice President of Jiangsu University (JSU) Prof. Cai Yingfeng,  Dean of the Philosophy School Prof. Natalia Jovanovic and Vice Dean of the Philosophy School of University of Niš and Foreign Dean of the Confucius Institute Prof. Ivan Jovanovic, and the relevant staff of International Office of JSU attended the event.

At the event, President of Chinese International Education Foundation Yang Wei, awarded the two universities with the nameplate of Confucius Institute at University of Niš, Serbia.

Prof. Ivan Jovanovich delivered a speech at the ceremony, expressing sincere gratitude to JSU for the hard work it has put into preparing for the establishment of the Confucius Institute. He hoped that with international cooperation on Chinese language education as the core, the Confucius Institute at University of Niš could play a comprehensive exchange platform role in spreading Chinese culture, telling Chinese stories, promoting the common development of these two universities in disciplinary construction, talent cultivation, scientific research cooperation, and other fields, thus becoming a model of cultural and educational cooperation between China and Serbia.
The event also awarded the 2023 Confucius Institute Dean Memorial Medal to 26 Chinese and foreign deans of Confucius Institutes from 18 countries, including the United States, Canada, Germany, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, and Ecuador. It also awarded nameplates to four new Confucius Institutes from South Africa, Botswana, Ghana, Nicaragua, and announced the winners of the third ZUI Confucius Institute short video global competition.
JSU actively and comprehensively promotes the educational action of jointly building the Belt and Road education initiative, and attaches importance to educational exchanges and cooperation with universities in Central and Eastern Europe. The Confucius Institute at University of Niš, Serbia is the only newly approved Confucius Institute in Jiangsu Province in 2023. The awarding of the nameplate marks a higher level in international Chinese education of JSU, which is conducive to enhancing our influence in the Central and Eastern European region, promoting cultural exchanges and people-to-people communication between the two regions.
