From September 21 to 28, Secretary of the CPC Jiangsu University (JSU) Committee Li Hongbo led a delegation to visit University of Auckland, New Zealand, University of Queensland, University of New South Wales and Macquarie University, Australia. The delegation met and made exchanges with leaders from these universities over joint training of students, mutual visits of teachers, cooperation of scientific research and other issues, and had a meeting with JSU alumni and students now in Australia and New Zealand.

During the meetings, Secretary Li Hongbo stressed that JSU will unswervingly implement the strategy of internationalization development, put equal emphasis on introducing overseas educational resources and going global, and deepen cooperation in more forms with prestigious international universities across more areas and in greater depth, so as to break new ground in international exchanges and cooperation. He also expressed his expectation that more high-quality cooperation can be achieved between Jiangsu University and the foreign counterparts.
At the University of Auckland, New Zealand, the two parties exchanged views on cooperation in joint degree program of engineering, especially Materials Science & Engineering, short-term study mobility and mutual visits of scholars. On the base of the agreed MOU framework, the two sides made in-depth discussions on the period of schooling, course mapping and training plan of the joint program. During the visit, the delegates also visited the robotic laboratory of the University of Auckland.
During the visit in Australia, JSU reviewed the implementation of the joint degree program under Student Exchange Programs for Chinese and Foreign High-level Universities. The University of Queensland, University of New South Wales and Macquarie University, Australia spoke highly of the JSU students admitted with the programs. Consensuses have been reached on promising areas for collaboration with the three universities: intensify the cooperation in the short-term student mobility, innovation and entrepreneurship practice and scientific research in agricultural machinery and equipment, agro-product processing, new energy vehicles and other engineering fields with the University of Queensland; promote the cooperation in scientific research, joint training of undergraduates and postgraduates, short-term student mobility and social practice in materials science & engineering, agricultural machinery and equipment, electrical engineering and other fields with University of New South Wales; deepen cooperation in credit transfer, short-term overseas study tours and visiting scholars in finance, management and other fields with Macquarie University.
During the visit, the delegation also had a meeting with the JSU students studying in Australia, learned about their studies and lives there, and encouraged them to better present JSU to the world and become goodwill ambassadors between the two universities. At the Queensland University of Technology, Secretary Li Hongbo met with the JSU alumni in Australia and expressed Alma Mater’s good wish to them. At the same time, he gave an introduction to the development and fruitful results JSU has achieved, focusing on the latest policy on recruiting overseas talents and hoped that they continue to take a keen interest in and support JSU’s development.
Director of Academic Affairs Office, Dean of School of Materials Science & Engineering, Head of Key Laboratory for Theory and Technology of Intelligent Agricultural Machinery and Equipment and Deputy Director of International Office joined the visit.
