JSU attended the 4th Belt and Road Davos Forum

The 4th Belt and Road Davos Forum convened on Jan. 22, 2020 in Switzerland. It was initiated by Tsinghua University, and Jointly sponsored by the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission of China and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research. Politicians, business leaders, and academic experts from the Belt and Road Countries gathered at the forum to discuss high-quality development and poverty reduction. The forum focus on three topics: “Efficient Growth and Sustainable Development of BRI”, “Artificial Intelligence and Global Governance” and “Sharing Experience on Poverty Alleviation and Promoting Common Development”. Prof. Yan Xiaohong, President of Jiangsu University was invited to attend the forum and made a keynote speech on the topic of “Sharing Experience on Poverty Alleviation and Promoting Common Development”. Relevant staff from China Agricultural Equipment Industry Development Research Institute and International Office of JSU attended the forum.



Mr. Ning Jizhe, Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission and Director-General of National Bureau of Statistics, China, Mr. Luhut B. Pandjaita, Minister of Maritime Affairs, Indonesia, Mr. Darell Leiking, Minister of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia, and Mr. Li Bo, Deputy Mayor of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government also gave keynote speeches.

Prof. Yan reviewed the contributions made by talent cutivation to poverty alleviation of countries along the "Belt and Road" since the establishment of JSU. Explained in detail the current advanced experience in foreign students education, new international talent cultivation mechanism, and deep integration of international education and industries; Prof. Yan also expressed strong desire to work with global universities, enterprises and international organizations to build a strong joint force for the cultivation of international agricultural machinery talents and contribute to the poverty reduction of the “Belt and Road”.

During the forum, Prof. Yan met with Ms. Olga Algayerova, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ms. Su Guoxia, Director-General of the Comprehensive Department of the Office of the Leading Group for Poverty Alleviation and Development of the State Council of China, and Pro. Guo Yike, the Imperial College of Engineering, Director of the Institute of Data Science and Vice President of the Hong Kong Baptist University.


As one of the six Chinese universities participating in the 4th Belt and Road Davos Forum, JSU has set a good example for promoting JSU to the world and telling a good story of ourselves.
