Automotive Engineering Research Institute (AERI) targets at promoting innovative ability, strengthening discipline characteristics and expanding social impact. The Institute focuses on the study of vehicle electronic control technology, new energy vehicle, vehicle digital design and advanced manufacturing technology, vehicle NVH and testing technology and modern transportation technology.
The Institute focuses on the fundamental and frontier study in automotive engineering. There are 7 research centers, including Vehicle Dynamics and Control Research Center, New Energy Vehicle Technology Research Center, etc. The Institute has witnessed great strides over the past 5 years since its establishment. It has undertaken 6 national key projects, 14 projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation and 32 projects at provincial or ministerial level.
Faculties have actively participated in various international exchanges and cooperation, such as the 20th ITS World Congress, the Global Car Networking Forum in 2014, SAE 2014, ITSWC 2014 etc. The institute has established cooperation with Wayne state university (USA), Michigan State University (USA), University of Technology, Sydney (Australia), Mie University (Japan), Steyr power. Besides, cooperative agreements are signed between JSU and WSU concerning joint training program for graduates, co-establishment of international lab.
The Institute also cooperates with such famous home corporation as XCMG Group to build Institute of engineering technology, Chery Automobile Company, Xin Dayang Electric Vehicle Co, Ltd to have the union of industry-study-research, King Long United Automotive Industry Co., Ltd, Chunlan Electronic Group, Jiangsu Chaoli machinery Co, Ltd to promote R&D programs continuously. The Institute and Xin Dayang Electric Vehicle Co, Ltd jointly develop urban mini-battery electric vehicle called “Zhidou”, which is welcomed by the consumers and is exported to the European, ranking second in the electric car sales in 2014.
Academic conferences are launched to expand its academic influence and promote the scientific research level. In May 2013, the institute hosted a symposium titled “The Test and Application of Auto Electric Control Technology” in joint efforts with Jiangsu Society of Automotive Engineering. In December 2014, New Energy Automotive Technology and Auto Parts Exhibition was held.
