Vice President Song Yuqing Visited Universities in Poland and Austria


    From September 24 to October 1, 2016, a delegation led by Vice President Song visited the University of Gdańsk and the University of Graz in Poland and Austria.


    During the visit to the University of Gdańsk, Vice President Song and Vice President Piotr Sepnowski discussed their respective universities’ basic information, characteristics, superior subjects taught. After the meeting, the delegation had a friendly communication with the Director of International Office Adam Jagiello-Rusilowski and the Dean of the School of Chemistry Prof. Mariusz Makowski. They discussed the prospect of cooperation between the two universities, including talent cultivation, teacher exchange, and collaboration on an international industry-study-research project. The delegation visited the laboratory of the School of Chemistry as well.

    At the University of Graz, Vice President Song and Vice President Riedler reviewed their history of cooperation and expressed a desire for deeper cooperation in the subjects of chemistry, laws and literature. The delegation participated in the activity held by the Confucius Institute in the University of Graz, highlighted the accomplishments made by the Confucius Institute and extended the anticipation of long-term continued growth. The delegation also visited the College of Natural Science and the laboratory of the Chemistry Institute. The two universities plan to cooperate on talent cultivation and scientific research.

    The University of Gdańsk was founded in 1970 ranking the 4th among the Poland National Comprehensive Colleges, with a leading position in the subjects of engineering, chemistry, and financial management. The University of Graz was founded in 1585 and is the second oldest university in Austria. It is famous for its economics and social sciences. In 2010, the University of Graz co-constructed the Confucius Institute with our university.
