German professor visits Jiangsu Univesity

| On the afternoon of May 30th, Professor Ralf Riedel from Technical University Darmstadt (Germany) paid a visit to Jiangsu University. He made an academic lecture entitled SILICON BASED POLYMER-DERIVED CERAMICS FOR HIGH TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE SENSORS in Room 304 of Materials Building. Some teachers and postgraduates of School of Materials Science and Engineering attended the lecture.Professor Riedel is a guest professor of Jiangsu University. He came to Jiangsu University on May 30 after he paid academic visits to Tianjin University and Northwest University of China. He graduated from Stuttgart University (Germany) and earned his Ph.D degree in 1986. In 1993 he began to serve Materials Department of Technical University Darmstadt as a professor. He is member of American Society of Ceramics, and International Society of Ceramics. In 2006 he was granted a Honorary Ph.D degree by the Scientific Academy of Slovakia. He has long been engaged in the research of converting polymers into ceramics and materials synthesized by high temperature and pressure. He has published 170 papers and earned 39 patents. He serves as the associate editor-in-chief or member of editorial board of some prestigious journals. In the lecture Professor Riedel made an introduction of his recent research achievements. After the lecture, the team members of a research project led by Professor Cheng Xiaonong had a talk with professor Rieldel about the difficulties they had encountered in their research. Professor Rieldel exchanged his ideas with Professor Cheng Xiaonong about co-building an international academic exchange platform, exchange students and international cooperation. | | |
