JSU Joined Hands with Lovol to Participate in the “COVID-19 Frontline” to Help International Agricultural Resumption

On June 19, at the invitation of “COVID-19 Frontline” of CGTN, Jiangsu University, together with Lovol, were invited to participate in its program with the theme of regular epidemic prevention and control and work and production resumption in four African countries. Chinese and foreign guests provided suggestions for Zambia to work on an ongoing basis to contain the virus and to resume work and production. The program was hosted by Zou Yun, English host of CGTN.

The African epidemic has caused an increase in unemployment and aroused urgent attention to the problem of food shortage. The UN’s “COVID-19 Impact on Food Security and Nutrition” briefing notes that an additional 49 million people will fall into extreme poverty. It is urgent to take action to tackle the global food crisis and protect the most vulnerable people from the threat of hunger.

During the activity, Prof. Zhao Yutao, Vice President of Jiangsu University, and Sun Deming, General Manager of Lovol, analyzed the main impact of the epidemic on agricultural and rural economy and food security issues. They also pointed out the role of intelligent agricultural machinery in agricultural resumption, shared the experience of the “six stability” and “six guarantees” in the education and industry circles, epidemic prevention and control, work and production resumption, answered the consultation of Zambia’s agricultural production and university resumption, which was affirmed by the participants.

During the epidemic, JSU’s agricultural intelligent equipment technologies such as drone spreading, fertilization and spraying have played a key role in ensuring food security and avoiding mass gathering. Prof. Zhao Yutao also shared JSU’s experience of resuming university and developing remote teaching management.
