A New Ultra-Low Volume Electrostatic Sprayer and A New Strong Ionization Electrostatic Sprayer Independently Developed by JSU were Used to the Containing of COVID-19

A new ultra-low volume electrostatic sprayer and strong ionization electrostatic sprayer were developed by the research team which is leading by Prof. Wu Chundu and Prof. Jia Weidong from School of Agricultural Equipment Engineering. The two sprayers were tested in the San Jiang building of Jiangsu University after 3 rounds of improvements. Team members, leaders of logistics group and property staff, professionals of disease control department of Zhenjiang Fourth People's Hospital and industry experts participated in the test and witnessed work together.  



The tests indicated that the new ultra-low volume electrostatic sprayer has significant technical advantages compare with traditional knapsack sprayer. The droplets produced by the new ultra-low volume electrostatic sprayer have smaller size, uniform size distribution. It produces a uniform deposition, reduces the volume of the disinfectant and produces a good effect of sterilization. Combining with the electrostatic spray technology and air assisted technology, the coverage area the new sprayer was improved and the efficiency is 10 times of the knapsack sprayer. The spraying volume of the new sprayer is small; therefore, it can be used for more than one hour. The new sprayer is highly portable and flexible, only one man is needed for the operation. It is suitable for the sterilization of lobby, classroom and hotel. The strong ionization electrostatic sprayer produces strong oxidizing free radicals by strong ionized discharging. The strong oxidizing free radicals can break up the cell membrane and get inside the cell and damage the DNA, RNA and protein, therefore, it can kill most of the viruses, bacteria and fungi. Compare with the traditional sterilization with chemical agent, it has significant advantages. The new sprayer takes the air and water as the material to produce strong oxidizing free radicals by physical method, as a result, there is no secondary pollution since no chemical agent was used. Meanwhile, there is no need to clean the object surface, it extremely improves the work efficiency and reduce the labor intensity. Both two new sprayers can be used to disinfect the air and object surface, they have broad application prospect in controlling the COVID-19 and pests.


The new ultra-low volume electrostatic sprayer and strong ionization electrostatic sprayer were received the acceptance of the leaders of logistics group of JSU and the operators. They are all agreed that the two new sprayers improve the work efficiency and reduce the labor intensity, and are very suitable for the sterilization of the school.
