Between 00:00 and 24:00, March 24, 2confirmed imported cases of COVID-19 were reported in Jiangsu, one in Nantong (imported from the UK) and the other onein Yancheng(imported from the UK). A total of 7imported cases have been reported accumulativelyas of 24:00, March 24.
Case 1: It is a Chinese national who now stays in Nantong.The person in question set off from London on March 18 and arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on March 19. He/she was seated in a quarantinearea en route by the crew after showing such symptoms as coughing. With throat swab taken for a nucleic acid testby the airport after customs clearance, he/she was then taken to a hotel near the airport for medical quarantine. Tested negativeon March 22, he/she was transferred to a designatedsite in Nantong for medical quarantine by Nantong Task Force in a designatedvehicle. Tested positiveon March 23, he/she was sentto hospital for quarantined treatment in anambulance. On March 24, the case was confirmed by Nantong.
Case 2:It is aChinese national who now stays in Yancheng. The person in question set off from London on March 18 and arrived at Beijing Capital International Airporton March 19. Upon arriving at Yancheng Station on the same evening by a CRH train following the arrangement of Jiangsu Task Force in Beijing, he/she was transferred to a designatedsite in Yancheng for medical quarantine by Yancheng Task Force in a designatedvehicle. Tested positivein anucleic acid teston March 23 and showing symptoms on the same day, he/she was sentto hospital for quarantined treatment in anambulance. On March 24, the case was confirmed by Yancheng.
Between 00:00 and 24:00March 24, no new confirmed local case was reported in Jiangsu. As of 24:00, March 24, 631 local cases have been reported in Jiangsu accumulatively, and 631 cases have been discharged from hospital in cumulative terms.
Of the traced 12,746close contacts, 97are still under medical quarantine and 12,649have been released.
Experts note that at the current new stage of pandemic control, it is necessary to take prevention of imported cases as the top priority and advance prevention in a coordinated manner. Concrete measures for targeted control should be adopted while promoting full resumption of normal order of production and life.
Jiangsu has intensified its control to prevent imported COVID-19 cases. Starting from March 23,all Jiangsu-bound travelerswill be put under centralized quarantine for14days.All those who visit or return to Jiangsu from overseas mustcomply with relevant regulations, fulfilltheir responsibilities by truthfully declaring their health conditions and travel histories, make health declaration via “Jiangsu Health Code”, and seek treatment at designated fever clinics assoon as possible, if symptoms such as fever and cough occur, and report their whereabouts in the previous two weeks.
Everybody bears the primary responsibility for their own health. The public is advised to keep precautions in place; develop good hygiene habits including washing hands and ventilating homes and offices frequently; and follow proper cough etiquette. The whole society should be involved in the national campaign for sanitation while the public should increase their awareness of science-based pandemic control and develop a healthy lifestyle.
