President Yan Xiaohong led a delegation to Germany and Bulgaria to Strengthen Cooperation with Universities in Central and Eastern Europe

From July 17th to 24th, at the invitation of several universities and institutions in Bulgaria and Germany, President Prof. Yan Xiaohong led the delegation visited Agricultural University, Plovdiv and the Chinese embassy in Bulgaria, Free University of Berlin, RWTH Aachen University and the Kaiserslautern University of Technology, Germany.



The year 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Bulgaria. In July, the bilateral relationship was upgraded to a strategic cooperative partnership. The country played an active part in the development of The Belt & Road Initiative and a leading role in agricultural cooperation between Central & Eastern Europe and China. Also, as a core country of the EU, Germany has a prominent position in the field of engineering technology. Strengthening cooperation between Jiangsu University and the higher education sectors of these two countries will promote the development of engineering disciplines (particularly agricultural engineering) of JSU.


During visit at the Plovdiv Agricultural University, the delegation met with Prof. Hristina Yancheva, President of Plovdiv Agricultural University, Prof. Svetla Yancheva, Vice President and Mr. Vasil Gelev, Executive Chairman of the China-Central and Eastern European Countries Agricultural Cooperation Promotion Association have introduced their respective advantages, deepened mutual understanding, and agreed to carry out in-depth cooperation in the fields of agricultural engineering, e-commerce, logistics and supply chain. JSU and Plovdiv Agricultural University signed a MOU.

During the visit to the Chinese embassy in Bulgaria, Charge d 'affaires of the embassy, Counsellor Yan Jianqun and head of the education group Mao Yancheng met with the delegation. Counsellor Yan Jianqun introduced the cooperation between China and Bulgaria in the fields of economy and education, hoping that JSU could further expand the cooperation with Bulgarian universities and deeply integrate into the national The Belt & Road Initiative construction.

During the visit to the Free University of Berlin (Germany), Prof. Li Wenzhong, Director of the Micro-Processing and Microstructure Center of the German Science Foundation, Prof. Ma Nan, Director of the Biomaterials Department of the Helmholtz Institute, held the meeting with the delegation in the field of material engineering. They also made a visit to the laboratory where the two sides reached a consensus on the exchange of teachers and students in the field of medical new materials and aviation high-performance materials.

During the visit to the RWTH Aachen University in Germany, Prof. Bühirig-Polaczek and Ma Dexin, directors of the foundry institute of the schoolexchanged views with the delegation in the fields of casting, material corrosion & anti-corrosion, and accompanied the delegation on a laboratory visit. Subsequently, President Yan Xiaohong publicized the overseas talent recruitment policy of JSU and welcomed everyone to join the development of JSU. The two universities will actively carry out scientific research cooperation and exchange of teachers in the field of material engineering.

During the visit to Kaiserslautern University of Technology, Prof. Martin Bӧhle, Dr. Harald Roclawski and Dr. Thomas Reviol from the Fluid Machinery Research Institute exchanged views with the delegation in energy and power engineering. They further signed a MOU. A decision was made to further expand scientific research cooperation and student cultivation in the field of energy and power engineering.
